Press Alt with the appropriate letter. For example, to type ñ, press Alt + N. To type ú or ü, hold Alt and press U once or twice.

Stop the mouse over each button to learn its keyboard shortcut.

Shift + click a button to insert its upper-case form. Alt + click a button to copy a single character to the clipboard.

You can select text and press Ctrl + C to copy it to your docu­ment. In your target document, press Ctrl + V, or, if you want to paste the text without formatting, try Ctrl + Shift + V.

  • A note about Spanish letters: Some people refer to the “Spanish n” (ñ) as “n with accent”, but this is incorrect – Spanish speakers consider ñ to be a completely separate letter with its own place in the alphabet, not just a type of n. Furthermore, the wavy line in the character ñ is a tilde, which is not really an accent mark. The only true Spanish accents are those placed over vowels (á é í ó ú) – for example, “Spanish o” (ó) can be called “o with accent”.
